Value of Employer Membership

Value of Employer Membership

Seaport TMA Membership provides employers with a variety of benefits:

  • We listen to you and advocate for safe and accessible transit, bicycle, pedestrian, and roadway infrastructure. We collaborate with our city and state partners to improve mobility options in the Seaport.

  • Membership with the Seaport TMA can help properties maintain compliance with city and state transportation demand management (TDM) requirements:

City of Boston Transportation Access Plan Agreement (TAPA) Compliance Assistance
The City of Boston requires developers and property owners to incorporate transportation demand management (TDM) measures into their projects, many of which are provided by membership in the Seaport TMA.

    Massachusetts DEP Rideshare Compliance Assistance

The Rideshare Regulation requires some organizations to develop plans and set goals for reducing commuter drive-alone trips by 25 percent. If your company is subject to the regulation, the Seaport TMA can offer compliance assistance and guidance on the annual reporting requirements.

  • Our members receive regular communications including transportation advisories (traffic, special events, construction, parking changes), a monthly area calendar of events, and other member updates to stay informed about changes that may impact commuting and general activity in the South Boston Waterfront. We also regularly present at members’ events such as transportation fairs, sustainability events, and benefits presentations.

  • The Seaport TMA offers a host of commuter programs, which actively promote and incentivize sustainable transportation to work, make commuting less stressful, and contribute to employee satisfaction. These include Guaranteed Ride Home, Carpool Matching, rewards for sustainable commuting, and more.

  • Representatives of Seaport TMA member companies meet for presentations at which business leaders can network, and learn from speakers on topics of transportation, area construction, and more.

  • Commuting is commonly identified as one of the biggest pain points for companies moving to a new office location. The Seaport TMA can work with building owners and their new tenant companies that are relocating to the Seaport to make relocation less stressful for your employees. The TMA can provide a zip-code travel analysis, presentations, commute planning materials, and commuter consulting. If your company is moving to the area, contact us to learn about how we can help at info@seaporttma.org.

Why join?

As a member of the Seaport TMA, your organization will be directly involved in advocating for improved mobility within the South Boston Waterfront, and your employees will receive access to valuable commuter programs and transportation information.

Surveys have shown that 23% of Americans say they have changed or left a job because of the length of their commute, and 60% have said they would consider changing jobs for a better commute. The benefits of reducing employee turnover are numerous. Improving mobility options can not only reduce turnover but has countless social and environmental benefits.

Seaport TMA works with employers in the Seaport to provide commuter programs that fit their culture and the needs of their employees. Our programs and services help employers boost recruitment and retention and save money that’s otherwise lost to time in traffic or spent on parking. We keep the Seaport moving.
