My son, who is a toddler, knows the name of his ferry, the Crispus Attucks. He often just enjoys saying the name. We've really relished our opportunities to take the ferry instead of train or car. We will do it as much as we can. -Bradford C.

A different take -- waterborne vessels exist in the context of all in which we see today and what came before. Since water transportation requires maintenance, here's a glimpse of what that looked like around World War I and II. Check out Dry Dock 1 in #charlestownma ! Have to mention -- while we can look in awe at the legacy and craftsmanship and perhaps labor of love, I also wanted reflect on this representation of labor. Many African Americans made a mass exodus from the South known as the Great Migration and found the answer to their search for economic opportunities at the Charlestown Navy Yard. While there's seemingly little documentation about whether African Americans found the social climate and economic stability they sought out, it reminds me of the Chinese migration after the railroads were completed, in search of jobs while fleeing from violence. -Anita Y.

The seaport ferry, my work commute, has been the absolute best part of my summer here in Boston. I’m a 4th year at UC Santa Barbara interning for the summer at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, making this ferry my fastest method of transportation. There’s nothing more exciting than embarking by boat to my place of work! This has really made Boston my dream post graduation. -Allison S.
